Ted Laverty
Ted Laverty joined DTS in July of 2001 and currently holds the title of Director of Business Development for Digital Media Networks. His principle role is to drive the IPTV & broadcast market segments for DTS. Ted is the DTS architect in the broadcast market ensuring that DTS plays a key part in the standards fields particularly in the areas of broadcast and IPTV. An audio industry veteran with over 20 years experience as an engineer, strategist and musician, Ted is the company lead for DVB & OIPF standards.
Director of World Wide Licensing (Broadcast)
Ted Laverty joined DTS in July of 2001 as Director of Business Development and has since become Director of World Wide Licensing – Broadcast, where he is responsible for driving the IPTV & broadcast market segments for DTS. Laverty is also the company lead for DVB & OIPF standards.
Prior to joining DTS, Laverty worked as a Pre and Post Sound Sales Engineer at high quality audio codec developer, Audio Processing Technology Ltd APT - Belfast, before his promotion to the United States General Manager position in Los Angeles. In this role he was responsible for algorithm licensing and hardware sales and also leading new strategic business developments primarily in the Telco segment.
Laverty holds an Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, where he also completed the European Technology Entrepreneur Program in conjunction with The University of Ulster. The year long course focused on commercializing audio technologies. Laverty is also a chartered Engineering and member of the IET.
Within his eight year experience in the music industry he has performed various roles as musician, composer, performer, engineer and producer for the noisy indie band ‘Chimera’.
