IP&TV World Forum becomes TV Connect

Tauno Aijala

Tauno Äijälä is MA, social sciences, University of Turku. He has been working in Finnish Broadcasting Company as radio journalist 1960-1967 and in MTV3 ( national commercial tv-network) as programme Controller and Executive Vice president 1967-2003 and in the Ministry of Transport and Communications 2006-2008. Now he is member of board of MTV media. In 2006 he was appointed to a post of Project Manager in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Finland. The main duty was coordination between all players involved in digital switchover in Finland. The analogue transmitters were switched off 1.9.2007 at 4.00 am. Cable operators in Finland switched off all their remaining analogue channels 28.2.2008. Finnish television is all digital. Terrestrial HD DVB T2 transmissions started in January 2011. In the ministry Tauno Äijälä was also responsible for Citizen´s Support Network. In practise group was informing and assisting general public, organizing national help desk and installation services, organizing national campaigns and carrying out researches. Tauno Äijälä is still involved in switchover process. He is now working as senior adviser in international project group “ DTT Helpdesk”. His own consultation company is Tmi TVConsulting.
