Phillip Thomas
Phil Thomas graduated with a B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Liverpool in 1978. After joining the BBC as a graduate entrant, he worked for just under 4 years with the BBC at Television Centre in videotape operations and maintenance.
In 1982 he moved to the international TV news agency Visnews, which subsequently became Reuters Television News, where he has remained to this day. At Visnews/Reuters he started in the maintenance department, and then in 1988 became a Project Manager. In 1998 he was instrumental in introducing non-linear workflows to the organisation’s London newsroom, and subsequently in 2004 rolling out non-linear solutions at five further global hubs. His current role sees him as an internal consultant on TV technology and workflow matters within the company.
