Paul Wright

Paul Wright has spent over twenty years in the media industry - often (rather accidentally) at the cutting edge of change. He started his career in 1988 in Sky TV's first ad sales team staying for over ten years and working across spot sales, programme sponsorship (when it was in its infancy) and latterly the web working on the first ever Sky sites in 1997.

In 1999 he joined Sports.com a web start up running sales and marketing across Europe. When this company failed he then set up an ad network focused on selling advertising and sponsorship on sports websites, called Aura Sports. Within 4 years the business represented over 95 % of the top football clubs in the UK and was sold to BSkyB in 2006.

On returning to Sky, Paul then ran the digital sales team until the summer of 2008 which involved merging 4 sales teams and creating a new proposition for the market, which was known then as Sky Digital Media.

After a break, Paul became a consultant and worked for a variety of high profile brands, media owners and technology companies. Paul worked with Bauer, Adtech (AOL), Collective, France Telecom and Mobile Interactive Group amongst many others. He was appointed to the Board of Web TV Enterprise in 2009, a premium video ad network which he helped to sell to Collective in March of 2011. Paul also served as a Board Advisor to Mobile Interactive Group.

In August 2011 Paul joined OMD as Chief Digital Officer, a role which oversees all digital activity for OMD’s UK agencies OMD UK and Manning Gottlieb OMD.

Paul is an avid music and film fan, a poor guitar player and a lover of technology and can be found tweeting at @paulwright66.
