Matthew Littleford

Matthew Littleford is General Manager of the global BBC iPlayer, BBC Worldwide's commercial on-demand service. He is responsible for the governance and day-to-day operation of the digital venture, which is currently available in 16 countries. Reporting to Jana Bennett, President, Worldwide Networks and Global BBC iPlayer, Matthew oversees the editorial, commercial, operational, marketing and product development of the BBC Global iPlayer, which is currently in its pilot phase.

Matthew joined BBC Worldwide from UKTV, where as Controller, he was responsible for the editorial and brand leadership of the broadcaster's portfolio of ten thematic channels and complementary websites. Matthew is credited with what is widely believed to be the most ambitious rebrand in UK television history: ten channels re-launched in just 19 months.

Additionally, he was responsible for increasing UKTV's commissioning hours and oversaw the network's premiere of Red Dwarf: Back to Earth, Dave's highest rating commission, as well as securing breakout hits across the Entertainment, Lifestyle and Factual portfolio that included Dynamo: Magician Impossible, Monster Munchies and The Spirit of 1940s season. He was also the driving force behind UKTV’s standout acquisitions, award-winning marketing and press campaigns, and some great multi-platform offerings, which culminated in the network experiencing two consecutive years of double digit growth and 37 million viewers a month.

Prior to UKTV, Matthew worked at ITV as Controller of Entertainment for its digital channels. There, he helped build the slate of commissions with some of the most successful shows in entertainment and factual including Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter, Ghosthunting With... and Morse at the Albert Hall.

Before that he had great fun making programmes.
