James Strickland joined Freesat as director of product and technology development in 2008, just after the launch in May. With over 18 years industry experience, James is a leading figure in the innovation world and is responsible for developing the Freesat platform to offer innovative new services and features for viewers.
Previously, James’ role as Cisco’s Director of Business Development made him the architect of the European IPTV strategies for one of the most successful companies in the IPTV sector.
In 2005, James became the director of sales for a widely deployed set top box middleware, while simultaneously managing a portfolio of accounts including BSkyB, NTL/Telewest, Comhem, TDC and Viasat. Although James’ interest in IPTV was already long established, his first specialised role in IPTV was in 2001 as Project Manager and subsequently New Business Development Manager at Pace Micro Technology. James managed major accounts in global digital cable, satellite and IPTV and supported deals through the creation of rental, leasing and buy-back options, subsidised distribution and retail kickback solutions.
