Bernhard Hafenscher (41) started to work for T-Systems as a marketing manager in 1992 after having received a university degree in commerce. In 1996 Bernhard was put in charge of the Internet Products Group (Austria) at Oracle to move on becoming Business Development Manager (EMEA), Digital TV and Video-on-Demand, based in the UK. Four years later he became Director of Sales and Marketing at medianet, a subsidiary to one of Austria’s largest publishing groups, responsible for building and executing a content syndication proposition to service operators.
Parallel to that Bernhard formed his own consulting practice, hmc media development, focussing on the development of complex media projects by bridging the gap between technology, content and commerce. hmc was a strategic partner of the UK-based consultancy 3Vision Ltd. as well as doing project with leading technology vendors like Sun Microsystems, Panasonic, Alcatel, Cisco, HP or Siemens. Major customers included ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), Telekom Austria and Vodafone Germany.
In 2008 Bernhard took over an assignment at Red Bull who were about to expand their media business. The consulting work there led into an employment soon after and he became Head of Business Development (Global) at Red Bull Media House. His tasks include the distribution of the DTH channel “ServusTV” and the development and execution of Red Bull’s broadband content strategy. Furthermore Bernhard is in charge of some global alliances with technology and media companies.
